Newcastle FPL players
Let’s take a closer look at Newcastle’s FPL team and make some recommendations.
Martin Dúbravka is decent enough value at £5m, but for that price we’d prefer Aaron Ramsdale or Jordan Pickford. So that’s a no.
£5m Fabian Schär and £4.5m Jamaal Lascelles each have their appeal, but they’re both injured.
Definitely don’t start with either, but they’re worth keeping an eye on.
Only one game in town here and that’s Allan Saint-Maximin, an exciting player who could be on the cusp of a breakout season.
At £5.5m he could be great in terms of freeing up funds for elsewhere, and he’s likely to be Newcastle’s primary attacking threat.
However, that price brings him into direct competition with Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong, and on balance we prefer the Saints man.
There’s an argument to be made for both, what with this year’s excellent array of £8.5-£9.5m forward options.
At a push Dwight Gayle could be worth £6m, but he’s not enough of a guaranteed starter to justify it.
