A pitch invader ran past Lionel Messi and swore at him while being chased by a steward at Anfield after Liverpool’s 4-0 win against Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final second leg.

The amazing result on Tuesday night saw Jürgen Klopp’s side stun the visitors, who squandered a 3-0 lead from the first leg, and knock them out of the competition.

Footage that has emerged following the final whistle appears to show a young boy sticking two fingers up at Messi before running off with a steward in hot pursuit.

On the pitch in a club tracksuit, the interloper could be mistaken for a ball boy at the stadium.
