In a bad-tempered game, Cameroon number ten Jeannette Grace Ngock Yango was noticed by viewers at home shoving Chinese ref Qin Liang from behind, catching the official unawares.
Already three goals down, Yango pushed the referee aside in a futile attempt to get to English midfielder Fran Kirby midway through the second half.
