An attacking Peruvian side, making their first appearance at a World Cup finals for 36 years, were unable to score against Denmark in their Group C opener at Russia 2018 on Saturday.
Peru’s Christian Cueva blazed a penalty over the bar and had to be consoled by teammates following another controversial intervention by the VAR system in use at these finals.
Yussuf Poulsen scored the only goal of the game after being released by Christian Eriksen midway through the second half.

My father is up for Peru "because the Danes invaded us."
I point out that was the Vikings during the Middle Ages. He goes: "I always remember these things."
Total. Diehard #PERDEN

Difficult for me to watch this game between Peru and Denmark, every time the commentator says “Danish”, I say “Yes” loudly. #PERDEN
