A Flamengo fan dressed in full referee’s kit to attend Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg win over Internacional at the Maracanã.

For reasons best known to himself, the supporter of the Brazilian club went to the game decked out in a ref costume, complete with both cards and a whistle.

Spotted by the camera, he flashes a red and a yellow – in the wrong order, it has to be said – before feigning a VAR consultation in his ear.

He then pretends to fall asleep, in what might be his own wry commentary on the video replay technology system.

A late double from Bruno Henrique gave Flamengo a 2-0 lead heading into next week’s return fixture.
