VIDEO: Ascoli goalkeeper walks ball into his own net for own goal at Palermo

Calamity for stand-in shot-stopper in Serie B game.

🔥

Ascoli goalkeeper Filippo Perucchini scored a stunning own goal at Palermo last night, effectively dribbling the ball into his own net after attempting to turn away from an attacker.

Perucchini was caught out midway through the first half of the Serie B tie at Renzo Barbera on Thursday following a backpass from one of his defenders.

Instead of avoiding the oncoming threat, the ball bounced off the goalie’s legs and into the goal behind him to put the hosts in front.

A new signing this season, Perucchini was making his first start for the club after coming on as a substitute to replace their regular goalkeeper in the team’s last league game.

Palermo went on to secure a 3-0 win and maintain their lead at the top of the table while Ascoli Calcio 1898 are left in 11th.
