A Newcastle United fan using online dating app Tinder was mistaken for Magpies star Paul Dummett by someone he matched with.

His profile included a photo of himself posing alongside the defender outside St James’s Park, leading to the confusion which elicited a response from the player on Twitter.

I’m so sorry ha x

Born in Newcastle, Dummett made twenty appearances for Steve Bruce’s side as they went on to finish 13th in last season’s Premier League table.
