Daniel Sturridge has been hurt by criticism of his injury record and is set for another protracted spell on the sidelines, Jordan Henderson has confirmed.
The Liverpool forward scored on his latest comeback to the side in a 6-0 win at Aston Villa, but according to his team mate the criticism has hurt him physically rather than emotionally.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Henderson said: “Daniel took a fair old whack from the comments about him and he’s incurred a triple cheese string fracture with extra sides.
“We’re gutted for him to be fair because he was out for so long with a broken record, so needless to say this is a setback for the lad.
“Hopefully we’ll have him back in the side by the time we next play Aston Villa.”
He added: “Er, which might not be for some time.”
