It’s not every day that Man Utd legends buy Salford City – so Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville decided to mark the occasion with a boy band formation.
The stars, in varying sectors of post-playing employ, decided to purchase the Northern Premier League club when they all realised they were bored suddenly.
To spice up proceedings, the self-styled Class of 92 assembled at one of their homes – let’s say Giggs’s – and agreed to start a boy band together.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Giggs – yeah, let’s stick with him for now – explained that they draw particular influence from latter-day Take That.
He said: “You do know I’m still playing, don’t you?
“‘Post-playing employ’? I mean, it doesn’t even really work as a joke – I was class in the second leg against Olympiacos.
“Just because Becks’s club is in Miami and ours is in Salford, doesn’t mean it’s more glamourous.
“We’re getting Tinchy Stryder in for a guest rap, how’s that for glamour?”
