Frank de Boer was left waggling his fist impotently after Crystal Palace responded to his repeated requests for Mamadou Sakho by sacking him.

The Dutchman leaves the Eagles in dire straits after leading them to four defeats from their opening four games, but what did for him in the end appears to be a simple misunderstanding.

He told Football Burp: “Those knuckleheads, now I know why they kept staring at me blankly all those times I demanded they give me Sakho.

“What are they going to do when Roy Hodgson asks them for Konchesky? Huh? Give him…erm…hang on, let me think of something humorous that sounds like Konchesky.

“Nah, I’ve got nothing.”

He added: “Why I oughta.”
