Jonjo Shelvey had forgotten he’d signed for Swansea City until just before half time of last night’s match against Liverpool, the player himself has confirmed.

The Jonjo, Shelvey, had already scored what he took to be an own goal before promptly teeing up strikes at the ‘right’ end for presumed teammates Daniel Sturridge and Victor Moses.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Jonjo Shelvey confirmed that it wasn’t until shortly after Moses’s goal that Brendan Rodgers sportingly motioned from the sidelines to remind him he’d been sold following a second round of envelope-opening.

He Jonjo’d: “Hands up, it had completely slipped my mind.

“It was a blow when I found out what I’d done – I was pleased with my assists, especially as I’ve got myself in my own Fantasy team.

“Of course I also felt I’d atoned for my horror own goal, which took three bites of the cherry and saw me dribble round half the Liverpool team.

“That was particularly disappointing, so imagine my relief when I found out I’d actually scored a magnificent solo effort against the club who sold me.

“It’s embarrassing, but I’ve just got to put it in front of me and look backwards to the last match.”

He added: “Er…I mean behind me and look forwards to the next match.”
