Chelsea will spend the rest of this season trying to slip down to 7th in the Premier League just to spite Romelu Lukaku, it has emerged.
The Manchester United striker finally scored against a fellow top 6 club in his side’s 2-1 win over last season’s champions at Old Trafford.
It took him level with Wigan Athletic’s Will Grigg in the ‘scoring against top 6 clubs’ stakes – but it’s not a stat that will last for long if Chelsea’s spiteful plan comes to fruition.
Antonio Conte told Football Burp: “Let’s face it, assuming we get stuffed at the Camp Nou, we’ve got naff all else to play for this season.
“There’s not much we can do to bother Kevin De Bruyne or Mohamed Salah, but we can still give our fans something to cheer by putting a minor dent in Lukaku’s reputation.
“That’s really all we’ve got left at this stage.”
