Chelsea have mistakenly unveiled Kieran Gibbs as a new signing instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, we can confirm.
Arsenal left-back Gibbs admitted he was as surprised as anyone to be paraded at Stamford Bridge, where he once narrowly escaped a red card in a classic case of mistaken identity.
Or was that Oxlade-Chamberlain?*
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, a confused Gibbs surveyed his new surroundings and resolved to make a decent fist of it.
He said: “I’m here now, which I suppose is nice because Arsenal…well, you’ve seen Arsenal.
“It’s weird, I’m not entirely sure how it happened. One moment Alex is putting pen to paper, the next I’m here holding up a blue shirt.
“I turned to Antonio Conte, he looked at me and we both kind of shrugged.
“And that’s about as far as this flimsy premise goes.”
