Arsenal have won the Net Spend Trophy despite losing 0-3 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Arsène Wenger’s Gunners were left celebrating the stunning success after managing to avoid making any expensive signings on the day.

However, they lost out on the League Cup as Pep Guardiola’s men ran riot.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Wenger remained philosophical.

He said: “I think we had the right approach, the right mentality, and in the end it was enough.

“We lose one trophy, yes, but we go home with another. To win a trophy with Danny Welbeck, it is a special thing.

“I said to the players, ‘Go out there, express yourselves and try not to sign anyone,’ and I think this was the right philosophy.

“Nobody can take this away from us.”
