Suspended for Chelsea’s 2-0 League Cup triumph against Tottenham on Sunday, these are the best Nemanja Matić jokes after the midfielder did a John Terry and joined the celebrations in full kit.
PLUS! BREAKING: Mourinho surliness vindicated as Chelsea double is sealed
Matić couldn’t play in the match after receiving a red card for his reaction to a bad tackle from Burnley’s Ashley Barnes in the Premier League last weekend but was chosen by manager José Mourinho to take the pre-game team talk.
Mourinho, presumably anticipating the other players could take inspiration from his feeling-hard-done-by Serbian signing, said:
The boy [Matic] was sad, we were sad for him.
He made the speech in the dressing room where he expressed his pain and asked the players to have the pleasure he couldn’t have.
For me the real pain was to see a player [Ashley Barnes] play yesterday and Matic not to play today.

Doubt anybody is going to make reference to Matic wearing a kit today for the next year or so.

You'd think Terry might have said to Matic 'It's really not worth it…" #fullkit
