A shock 2-1 defeat for Man City in Newcastle left Liverpool four points clear at the top of the table and in with a chance of extending the lead to seven points if they beat Leicester on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola looked on in despair from the bench at St. James’ Park on Tuesday night as the hosts overturned an early lead.

A second-half equaliser from Salomón Rondón was followed by a Matt Ritchie penalty and that was enough for former Liverpool manager Rafa Benítez to guide Newcastle to a win against the current Champions.

Although the January transfer window is not yet closed, Jürgen Klopp’s side are now clear favourites to win the Premier League this season.
