Wigan Athletic’s new mascot Crusty the Pie attended his first game at the club’s DW Stadium on Saturday and watched the home side beat Cardiff 3-2.
In the week prior to their opening game of the Championship season, the new pie mascot was revealed to fans and members of the media.
Hopefully no-one has a beef with Wigan Athletic's new mascot – a pie
More than 90 primary schools were invited to submit ideas, and more than half the entries were a pie

Crusty the Pie is a walking, talking, pie-faced character dressed in the team’s home kit.
The latest arrival in Wigan is reportedly the result of a competition of ideas submitted by local schools – many of which were said to have included a pie.

The pie posed with supporters at the game and an especially-organised event ahead of kick-off.
A hit with young fans and the online community, it wears number eight on its back and can be seen on your next trip to the ground.
