São Paulo manager Fernando Diniz put his head in his hands when one of his players put a free kick needlessly out of play during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Atlético Goianiense.

Despite lying 4th in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, São Paulo have been on a miserable run of form of late, failing to win any of their last seven games.

Indeed the slump has cost Diniz his job – he was sacked the next day along with director of football, Raí.

His plight was foreshadowed during the match at the Stadium Antônio Accioly with his frustrated reaction to the sloppy kick.
