Referee Danny Makkelie blew for half time just as Atalanta forward Muriel went through on goal in Tuesday’s Champions League match at Real Madrid.
To make matters worse, the whistle sounded just before the 45-minute mark, with the Colombian looking to get a shot off having latched onto a through ball.
Atalanta tried out something different for their free-kick routine vs. Real Madrid.

While he would later score a free kick featuring a novel routine from his teammates, the Serie A side lost 3-1 in the Round of 16 second leg game at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium.
That gave La Liga giants Real a 4-1 aggregate win which takes them into the quarter finals of the competition.
