As Charlton hosted Fleetwood at The Valley on Saturday, play was briefly stopped while fans threw packets of crisps onto the pitch in protest at Roland Duchatelet’s ownership of the club.

The League One clash had to be paused shortly after kick-off when a barrage of bags came down from the stand behind one of the goals, although the game’s participants initially tried to soldier on.

It’s the latest in a string of stunts by supporter group Campaign Against Roland Duchatelet (CARD), who are reported to have distributed the crisps.

The Belgian is said to have agreed a price to sell the London side in February, but remains in place and recently informed staff that incentivised bonuses would not be paid after a “very bad financial year”.
