Was unhappy with controversial VAR decisions in 0-1 defeat to Ajax.

A supporter of Dutch side VVV-Venlo has apparently received a 12-month stadium ban for showing his bottom to referee Kevin Blom and his assistants after a 0-1 defeat to Ajax on Saturday.

The officials twice made use of VAR in the Eredivisie clash, disallowing a goal for the home side in the first-half before awarding a penalty kick to Ajax shortly before the final whistle, which Dušan Tadić duly converted.

The fan’s display of anger as the officials walked off the pitch at the 8,000-seater De Koel stadium in Venlo is also said to have landed the perpetrator with a €500 fine.

One outraged Twitter user wants everyone to pull down their trousers in protest ahead of kick-off at their next home game, against Heerenveen.

However the club claim there is more to this story than first meets the eye and that currently only a provisional ban is in place, noting that many feel the reported punishment is too severe:

And that is completely understandable.

In the first instance, after seeing the photo, there was also an internal laugh at the ‘mooning-action’ of the supporter in question.

Unfortunately, ‘mooning’ is only half the story.

Based on witness statements, an investigation is being carried out into making racist jungle sounds by the same supporter, who has just returned after a previously imposed stadium ban.

A report has been drawn up about this that has been sent to the [Dutch FA].
