Walsall’s Isaiah Osbourne was hit in the face after an uncontested drop ball was fired towards him in a 0-0 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday evening.

The League One clash was briefly interrupted while the stricken player received treatment before being stretchered off the pitch in the 84th minute of an entertaining derby at the Bescot Stadium.

Osbourne was struck by the ball after Shrewsbury midfielder Anthony Grant’s pass back to the opposition goalkeeper seemed to go in the wrong direction.
