VIDEO: Newport goalkeeper Tom King scores directly from goal kick against Cheltenham

Wind-assisted wonder goal.

Newport County goalkeeper Tom King scored directly from a goal kick to give his side the lead at Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road on Tuesday.

While the League Two match ultimately ended 1-1, it proved to be a memorable one for King as he opened the scoring with this wind-assisted effort.

In an interview afterward, Sky Sports News asked him if there’d be a measurement of the goal’s distance for consideration as a world record.

He said:

If there’s not, I will be down at Cheltenham’s football stadium with my own tape measure sometime this evening.

I hope that somebody can check that for me, saves me the trip back there, but that would be quite the achievement.
