Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta tackled Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend on the touchline as the two teams played out a 0-0 draw at the Emirates on Thursday.

With the ball squirming out of play following Joel Ward’s challenge on Eddie Nketiah, Townsend sprinted towards it to try and keep it in.

He didn’t quite make it, but all the same – and for reasons that aren’t entirely clear – Arteta stepped in to kick it away from him.

The goalless outing brought an end to his Gunners side’s recent run of four consecutive wins in all competitions, leaving them 11th in the Premier League table.
