VIDEO: Marcos Rojo eats a banana during Man Utd v Rostov

Scoffs fruit mid-match as Mourinho bids to boost his blood sugar levels.

Watch the moment Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo eats a banana sent to him by José Mourinho during the 1-0 Europa League win over Rostov.

In a startlingly unusual move, United boss Mourinho demanded a banana from a member of stuff in order to boost the blood sugar levels of a flagging Rojo.

After successfully sourcing the banana, Mourinho hands it to substitute Ashley Young to pass onto Rojo, who promptly devours it on the pitch.

Clearly it worked because Man Utd progressed to the next round of the competition, keeping alive their hopes of a cup double having won the EFL Cup last month.

This is not the first time that Rojo has made headlines for his eating habits – in 2015, he shared a photo on Instagram that revealed some badly burnt toast.

So the next time Rojo eats a banana on the pitch, you might reasonably surmise that he didn’t have a decent breakfast.
