Kosovo’s press secretary demanded that Spanish journalists say his country’s name, claiming they had been avoiding doing so in media coverage.
The two nations meet in a World Cup qualifier in Seville on Wednesday night, with the political backdrop of Spain’s government not officially recognising the Balkan state.
Fielding a question for Bernard Challandes, the staff member repeatedly asked the reporter to clarify which team’s coach he wanted an answer from.
However, the longer version of the clip shows that the questioner had in fact just used the word ‘Kosovo’.
He may therefore have been confused into silence by the ensuing broadside.
