The music usually played after a goal at the New York Stadium blared out of the loudspeakers for a brief moment after Rotherham’s Ryan Manning missed a penalty for the home side in a 0-4 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.

Manning, on loan from QPR, hit the post with his 76th-minute attempt at a consolation goal from the spot with the hosts already four goals down in the Championship clash.

Whoever was controlling the audio at the ground compounded the fans’ misery by mistakenly playing the goal music as the ball bounced off the post and back into play.

Quickly realising their error, the sound was hurriedly cut off as players ran for the loose ball.
