A set of goalposts had to be rebuilt after a player fell into the net and broke it during Central Coast Mariners v Perth Glory, causing a 45-minute delay.
Portuguese midfielder Fábio Ferreira headed home in the ninth minute of the Australian A-League fixture at the Central Coast Stadium on New Year’s Eve.

Not only was it ruled out for offside, but Ferreira’s momentum carried him into the net with such force that it snapped the left-hand upright.
The players had to be withdrawn from the pitch while a team of staff set about fixing the post in order that the match could continue.

It was eventually mended, allowing the game to restart with visitors Perth Glory already 1-0 up thanks to an early goal from former Republic of Ireland striker Andy Keogh.
Wouldn't it be ironic if this gets…. Post… Poned… #CCMvPER

Ferreira doubled their advantage soon after the game eventually got back underway and he added a third before half-time.
Jordan Murray pulled one back for the home side in the second period but Keogh bagged another in stoppage time to ensure a 4-1 win for Perth.
