Sheffield United goalkeeper Dean Henderson dived for a shot that was soaring well over the bar during his side’s 3-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.

Dubbed the ‘most sarcastic dive in history”, Henderson’s absurd leap may well have been a genuine yet grossly miscalculated attempt at a save.

In a Wigan attack, a left-sided cross into the box flies way over the cross bar and into the stands, much to the frustration of Latics players waiting in the area.

For reasons best known to himself – possibly humorous, possibly to do with reflex – Henderson goes flying to his left to deal with the non-existent threat.

Chris Wilder’s Blades won comfortably at the DW Stadium with goals from each of their front three, David McGoldrick, Mark Duff and Billy Sharp.

They lie 2nd in the Championship table following Saturday’s 1-0 victory at home to QPR.
