A shirtless man managed to damage a gate during an altercation with stewards and then proceeded to blame it on them as he was ejected from Fulham’s pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
Spoiling for a fight on a sunny afternoon at Craven Cottage, it took several staff members to drag the man off club premises.
A battle of pushing and pulling the big black gate then ensued before the bottom of it became stuck on the pavement at an angle.
There had been earlier speculation that someone had been thrown out of the ground for refusing to sit down:
The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
