Watch Graeme Sharp gardening with an 82-year-old fan after the older gentleman won club partner StubHub‘s competition to “find an Evertonian deserving of a helping hand from the Blues legend”.
Season ticket holder David McTegart, who has been an Everton supporter since the age of 3, was nominated for the “special treat” by his granddaughter Claire and apparently “stood out as a worthy winner”.
So Graeme Sharp and a team of Everton in the Community staff headed over to Runcorn on Wednesday in order to help tend McTegart’s garden.
The Everton FC website report:
After arriving at David’s house, Sharpy cut the lawn while the Everton in the Community staff got to grips with the spades, shovels and rakes in the front garden.
Once the work was completed, it was time for a cup of tea as David and Graeme reminisced about the good old days at Goodison.
Regarding the freshly mowed lawn, Sharp, who made a total of 322 appearances for Everton, scoring 111 goals, is said to have claimed that “by the time we left it was looking like Wembley!”
In this lovely video you can see the all the gardening action and some great interviews with the participants.
