Watford’s Étienne Capoue lay on the ground so team-mate Adrian Mariappa could launch the ball into the box during their FA Cup semi-final comeback against Wolves.

With the Hornets 1-2 down in the 89th minute of Sunday’s clash at Wembley, defender Mariappa collected the ball inside the opponents’ half.

He immediately looks up with the intention of playing a long ball into the penalty area, and Capoue quickly realises he’s in the way.

Instead of moving, however, he hits the deck and lies prostrate on the turf so as not to obstruct the travel of the ball.

Great technique

Javi Gracia’s men did of course go on to get their equaliser, through a Troy Deeney penalty deep into stoppage time.

Gerard Deulofeu then scored in extra time, his second goal of the game, to book a final date with Man City.
