VIDEO: Cyprus captain Jason Demetriou sent off for very cynical tackle in Nations League against Slovenia

Lay in wait for the wide midfielder.

One of the best sending offs ever for Southend's Jason Demetriou. Unluckly to be sent off, only just missed the ball 😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/8O8BEvAjrH

Cyprus captain Jason Demetriou was sent off deep into added time of their Nations League group game in Slovenia on Tuesday night following a tackle in which he made very little attempt to play the ball.

The 30-year-old Cypriot Southend United player clattered into Slovenia’s Domen Črnigoj in an effort to prevent him reaching the ball that had been pushed past the pair of them.

The League C Group 3 match finished 1-1 with Demetriou’s red card the last of three in a bad-tempered second-half at Stožice Stadium in Ljubljana.
