Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson appeared to talk to an empty chair in the dugout during his team’s 4-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Eagles were 2-0 down during the first half of the match when former England boss Hodgson turned to his left and spoke seemingly to no one.

To be fair, it seems far more likely that Hodgson was speaking to someone in the next chair along rather than consulting an imaginary colleague.
But the addressee in this instance was not part of the scene caught on camera, making for an amusing visual illusion.
Palace lie 12th in the Premier League table, with two wins and a draw from their opening five fixtures.
