West Brom midfielder Conor Gallagher barged referee Lee Mason over during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brighton at the Hawthorns.

The 21-year-old, on loan from Chelsea, got the assist for Kyle Bartley’s winner as Sam Allardyce’s Baggies grabbed a crucial three points in the battle to beat relegation.

And early in the game he inexplicably ran full pelt into the ref, sending him crashing to the turf in the process.

Matchday official Mason was the centre of controversy as he disallowed a Lewis Dunk free kick for the visitors despite having twice blown his whistle for it to be taken.

Graham Potter’s Seagulls also missed two penalties, with Pascal Groß and Danny Welbeck hitting the crossbar and post respectively.
