There was a coconut thrown onto the pitch at Tynecastle midway through the first half of Hearts vs Hibernian on Saturday.

The celebrations were in full flow after Daryl Horgan’s equaliser for the visitors twenty-eight minutes into the Scottish Premiership clash.

Amongst a series of green smoke bombs that had been let off following the goal, a coconut was spotted on grass by the cameras – reportedly having been thrown from the stands.

A fiery Edinburgh derby, which saw kick off delayed by the disorder, finished Hearts 1-2 Hibernian.

Somewhere in Edinburgh this morning.
“Don’t forget dad I need a coconut for my school project.”
“Of course darling, I’ll pick one up before the match.”

This evening. “Dad, where is my coconut?”
“Not now darling.”#HeartsvHibs

Hearts manager Craig Levein said:

It’s nonsense.

It’s the first time I’ve heard of a coconut going on to the pitch.

Who’s got a spare
 coconut to throw on?

Honestly, it’s mental.

While Hibs boss Paul
 Heckingbottom is quoted as saying:

I heard there was a coconut thrown on and that’s a new one on me.
