A cat invaded the pitch during added time as MLS side Real Salt Lake took on Liga MX club Tigres in the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup on Thursday.

Mexican team Tigres won 1-0 at the Rio Tinto Stadium thanks to an Eduardo Vargas goal in the 57th minute of the match.

And during stoppage time as the clock ticked down, their passage to the semi-finals was briefly interrupted by a feline intruder.

The cat darted onto the field of play between two opposition players challenging for the ball and ran along the goal line behind the ‘keeper.

It then bounded about for a short while before leaving of its own accord.
