Sunday’s Brasileiro Série C match between Atlético Acreano and Luverdense was interrupted by smoke emanating from the fires engulfing the Amazon rainforest.
The blaze has been met with worldwide outcry, with Brazil’s controversial President Jair Bolsonaro flip-flopping over whether to accept aid from G7 nations.

In terms of fallout from the disaster, the halt in proceedings of this game between two relegated sides is not exactly egregious, but it was inconvenient all the same.
Home side Acreano won 3-2 at the Estádio Antônio Aquino Lopes, with Geovani scoring the winner in stoppage time just minutes after Luverdense had equalised.
