Captured during a live transmission on Fox Sports last Thursday night, the startling clip seems to show a shadowy figure moving at a constant but unnervingly quick pace through the crowd.
The apparent apparition contrives to pass straight through barriers, fans and other obstacles, all the while going completely unnoticed by the surrounding spectators.
Is this proof that you can watch football from beyond the grave? Football Burp hopes so.
There is a great deal of speculation about the manifestation…
The figure has been labelled a ghost by some but others have dismiss it as simply a reflection of another player or spectator.
But it is not the first time unexplained happenings have taken place at a South American stadium.
Venezuelans believe the ghost of their late president Hugo Chavez saved a sure-fire goal during an international fixture against Colombia… and palming the ball over the bar.
And Australia’s Nine News note:
Local media added that it moves curiously fast given the cramped seating in the stadium which allows only limited room.
A number of people also took to social media where they claimed to identify a second shadow near the northern end of the stadium.
But not everyone was convinced, with others quick to dismiss the apparent “ghost” as a reflection or double exposure of one of the players on the field.
