Almere City mascot Ally de Aap was wheeled around his team’s stadium holding a sign saying “stop the count” in mockery of outgoing President Donald Trump.
The satirical humour doubled up as a tongue-in-cheek request to halt the scoring given that the Eerste Divisie side had just taken the lead through Damon Mirani.

Ally’s lighthearted demand was quashed just minutes later, but fortunately for him it was Almere who doubled their tally through Mees Kaandorp.
They lie top of the Dutch second tier, unbeaten in their opening eleven matches following Friday’s 2-0 win at the Mitsubishi Forklift Stadion.
