Recently retired Ferguson is presumably an always welcome guest at Old Trafford and was in the crowd to watch his old club defeat the current Premier League leaders.

Renowned for his implementation of Fergie time during Manchester United games, Ferguson was supposed to have a mythical ability to extend the length of games until his side managed to clinch a much needed equaliser or winning goal, particularly at their home ground.

And, as the commentator reflects in this clip, for the Mancunian icon at least, “some things never change”.

Seconds before the final whistle, the TV cameras caught a slightly agitated Ferguson looking at his watch before throwing his hands up in the air with a look of exasperation – clearly frustrated that the officials were allowing the game to continue.

The most successful British football manager in history didn’t have long to wait though and leapt up from his seat to celebrate the crucial win as the match was finally brought to a close.
