See all the tweets as it is confirmed by manager Paul Lambert and spouse Abi that Matt Lowton sent his wife home from their disappointing 2-0 defeat to QPR on Monday night and was not, as was first feared, arguing with the Aston Villa supporters.

When spotted apparently in heated conversation with person or persons unknown in the stands, many assumed the worst – that, while in the midst of a demoralising loss to the Premier League’s bottom team, Lowton was lashing out at his team’s own fans.
But this is said not to be the case – check out the tweets dismissing the story after Aston Villa’s Matt Lowton sent his wife home from the QPR clash:
For all the busy people slaggin Matt for tellin me to go after the game. It wasnt anythin to do with fans. He was tellin me to go home!!!!

Lambert on Lowton's alleged 'row' with Villa fans: 'Believe it or not his wife was in the crowd and he was telling her to go outside.'

Although a major Twitter storm was avoided, the 25-year-old right back’s wife Abi Lowton did perhaps send one tweet too many:
@jrhz23 regardless he wasnt slaggin the fans

@AbiLowton DO I CARE THOUGH? YOUR HUSBANDS STILL SHIT, DIVORCE HIM AND MARRY SOMEONE GOOD LIKE JAMES MILNER

This fan surmised the current situation:
Apparently Matt Lowton burnt a Villa shirt at the end of the game, then individually insulted every Villa fan before punching a kid.

Remarkably though, this was not the only obvious marital problem observed in amongst the travelling Villa contingent by those who attended Loftus Road yesterday:
Villa couple arguing in the away end. Woman finally storms out, leading to QPR chants of “where’s your missus gone?”
