Well hasn’t it been a lovely day for football? Former England captain and Chelsea stalwart John Terry is in the dock, accused of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand and it’s day one of the trial!

In Burp’s opinion, neither side has covered themselves with glory throughout this escapade. Anton’s brother, Rio Ferdinand, thought it was necessary to wade in again today though, with a seemingly not-so-subtle reference to what the court heard from Terry’s legal team.

Taking to Twitter, Rio announced that his “film of the day” was Liar, Liar:

John Terry is charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence, an allegation which he denies. The trial is expected to last five days at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and Terry could receive a maximum £2500 fine if found guilty.
