Former heptathlete and 400m sprinter Kelly Sotherton smashed her TV in anger when Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini conceded a penalty against Barcelona last night.
Sotherton, a bronze medallist at the 2004 Summer Olympics, flew into a fit of rage when the Frenchman hacked down Lionel Messi just 47 seconds after coming on as a late substitute for Francis Coquelin.
She hurled the remote at the screen, leaving her television every bit as in tatters as her beloved Gunners’ Champions League hopes following the 0-2 last 16 first leg defeat.
Just smashed up the TV #AFCvFCB

Fortunately we have photographic evidence of the incident, courtesy of former skier Jamie Fox:

This was apparently the cue for erstwhile England rugby captain Will Carling to wade in:

Whether or not Kelly Sotherton smashed her TV to avoid having to watch the second leg, we can only speculate.
