A linesman lost his bearings and spent several minutes patrolling his side of the pitch while five yards infield during Montenegro against England.

The assistant referee got in a muddle during Monday night’s Euro 2020 qualifier at the Podgorica City Stadium and strayed onto the field of play.

Evidently unaware of his trespassing, he remained there for a period of the second half as Gareth Southgate’s side recorded another thumping victory.

Fresh from beating Czech Republic 5-0 on Friday, the Three Lions firmed up their position at the top of Group A despite falling behind on 17 minutes.

Michael Keane equalised on the half-hour mark before Ross Barkley scored either side of half-time, with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling completing the scoring.
