Man Utd Twitter account uses Europa League hashtag for tweet about Champions League match

That hashtag was perfect, why did @ManUtd delete this tweet? pic.twitter.com/cfIiK8nAbs

The admin of the Man Utd Twitter account accidentally used the Europa League hashtag for a tweet about their Champions League defeat to İstanbul Başakşehir.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s Red Devils lost 2-1 in Turkey to ramp up the pressure on their Norwegian manager following an inconsistent start to the new season.

In one tweet about Wednesday’s Group H fixture at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium, United’s official Twitter used the hashtag #UEL instead of #UCL.

Recognising the error – one borne presumably of recent habit – it was subsequently deleted and reposted with the appropriate marker.
