Victor Anichebe came off the bench to score a crucial winner for Everton in last night’s 2-1 win at Newcastle United, so Football Burp mosied on down to Toffees forums NSNO, Grand Old Team and The People’s Forum to see what the Goodison Park faithful had to say about a player that David Moyes has always had time for, even if they didn’t…

Hooty, The People’s Forum…

Anichebe has been absolutely superb tonight. Tremendous effort.

Toffe3m4n, Grand Old Team

Gonna go on the record and say this now. I’ve never been a fan of his, and when Wolves came sniffing last year I wouldn’t have minded him walking, but I gotta say he’s really becoming a valuable member of the squad now. If he stays free of injury for extended periods, we should be keeping hold of him.

Analog Kid, NSNO…

Should start every game from now on- utter pain in the arse for opposing defenders.

Sylvain, Grand Old Team…

When will we start taking Victor seriously? Is this goal enough now?

I must admit despite his fantastic record for the past year, every time he scored a goal I couldn’t help feeling it would be his last one.

Like this form is pure fluke considering the fact he couldn’t hit a barge pole before 2011.

There is still many fans who think he has poor attitude and/or should be sold for funds, or at least their was in the summer.

But surely we have a very good player on our hands now?

aje, The People’s Forum…

phenomenal performance from him, he’s rewarding Moyes’ patience.

MmmBlueMirallas, NSNO…

If he can get fit (he was blowing big time after 10 mins) and get some more confidence in his own strengths he can be the player moyes obviously believes is in there.

TheBlueGibbon, Grand Old Team…

He’s winning me over, if he keeps playing the way he has been and avoids injury, then there’s no reason why he can’t be a good player for us. He deserves to start the next league match.

Col, The People’s Forum…

He was indeed SUPERB. very intelligent late on I thought

One of his best performances, he looked like a man out there not a whinging boy as he often can.

If he can get his head sorted and grow up, he can be an asset

blargins, NSNO…

Many people said that there was a player in there somewhere looks like he’s finally coming out to play. Very happy for him.

Elong, Grand Old Team…

Might have a change of attitude coming on too, when him and Tiote were pushing around today, he didn’t back down, used his titanic frame and glared right back at him. I want more of that please.

I’ll admit I swooned when he was getting ready to come on and took his shirt off. PHWOAR!

Blue5, The People’s Forum…

Hopefully he’s proving his worth to the doubters

his goals to game ratio is quite good this season, but more than that his all round play certainly in the last couple of months has been fantastic

charlatan, NSNO…

I’ve been one of his biggest detractors in the past, but there’s real signs there now. Nothing would please me more than him proving me totally wrong.

Little Ralphy, Grand Old Team…

He was one of the only players near the end ‘clever’ enough to hold the ball up and run the clock down. Too many of them were still trying to throw crosses in. He’s got some great attributes, he just needs to work a bit on his fitness. We defo shouldnt be selling him.

somuchfun, Grand Old Team…

To be fair his all around game has improved a lot. I think after he put all that muscle on he wasn’t really comfy with his size. Now he shows glimpses of a being a proper footballer as well as scoring the all important goals.

kenada_blue, Grand Old Team…

Hes had it in his locker since 09. Since then hes had injury, a cob on, fell over, and couldn’t finish 90minutes. He was also very, very unintelligent as a forward player.

For some reason hes pulled it out his locker again and improved the above. He can keep the work rate up and he seems to stay on his feet and use his strength.

The biggest thing is his improvement on and off the ball, and his movement in the box.

I dunno if Jelavic is helping sort that side of his game and to use his head.. But seems to be working

SpeedEFC, Grand Old Team…

I’ll admit I rated Vic until his injury but then lost faith in the lad when he returned, I thought that horror tackle had finished him off mentally therefore he wouldn’t make it as a top footballer. I’m glad to admit I was wrong and that became evident second half of last season when he became the supersub he is now. It was always a question of mentality with Vic and it seems he’s conquered his demons and is developing into the player we all knew he could be, he’s not there quite yet but it will come in time.
