Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger claims he did not see the incident in which he shoved fourth official Anthony Taylor during the controversy-laden 2-1 win over Burnley.
The Frenchman insists he couldn’t possibly have seen it anyway as his eyes point outwards from his head and he would therefore have required a mirror.
For this reason Wenger maintains he should not receive a touchline ban for the light melee, brought about by a red card and the award of a late penalty for Burnley.
Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Wenger admonished us for using a hackneyed old gag.
He said: “That’s as much of a cliché as managing Arsenal to 4th place and getting knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
“Er, but more outmoded.”
