Saido Berahino was finally vindicated for his years of absenteeism at West Brom with a sensational £10m move to Potteries giants Stoke City.

The Baggies striker has barely featured since reacting angrily to the club rejecting an offer from Tottenham about fifty years ago.

And his belligerence paid off in spades when the bright lights of Stoke finally came a-calling.

Speaking exclusively to Football Burp, Berahino could scarcely contain his excitement at linking up with lifelong idol Glenn Whelan.

He said: “Throw in Peter Crouch’s Indian summer and how could I say no?

“I admit there were times when I feared all my petulant posturing might come back to bite me, but I don’t think there’s any danger of that now.

“And with José Fonte joining West Ham, it’s been a great day for striking footballs securing dream moves to absolutely massive football clubs.

“I mean, Stoke and West Ham – it doesn’t get bigger than that.”
