Everton’s Wayne Rooney has been spotted out and about painting benches – but it’s nothing to do with his community service, according to Ronald Koeman.
The Toffees ace was sentenced to a hundred hours of the stuff for getting all liquored up and carting around with some dolly.
But Koeman explained that anyone who sees Rooney doing anything around benches is merely witnessing something tactical.
He told Football Burp: “I want Wayne to spend more time with benches – get to know them, see how they work.
“It’s all part of this new role I’ve got planned for him, which can only be partially filled by cleaning Oumar Niasse’s boots.
“If you see him at a garden centre, that’s because we’re trying to train him up as assistant groundsman.”
